The new line is constructed using a newly developed antibacterial plastic material—the first accredited antimicrobial copper plastic material applied to plastic polymers. Copper and copper alloys have natural antimicrobial properties, thus an inherent ability to kill a wide range of harmful microbes relatively rapidly.
The new, patented, antimicrobial copper plastics products kill 99.9% of both E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus (food poisoning germ) within 3 hours of contact, and all bacteria by 99.9% within 12 hours. The elimination of bacteria is completed with such a high degree of efficiency that frequently touched surfaces (such as doorknobs, railings, tables, doors, bus poles, electric switches, ATM keypads, elevator buttons and more) are prevented from serving as reservoirs for the spread of pathogenic microbes.
Existing organic antimicrobial agents use surface coating technology. Over time, these products lose their antimicrobial properties in a process called elusion, when the coating membrane is damaged by wounds from outside.
Wellslock’s new antibacterial containers maintain their antimicrobial power consistently, even if though the product surface is damaged because the antimicrobial copper particles in Wellslock containers are evenly distributed inside the products, not just on the surface.
The new antimicrobial containers have the same patented one-lock system, with lids that glide into place, then lock all four sides of the container with one click, not only making opening and closing containers easier and quicker, but ensuring an airtight seal that prevents moisture retention.
